Paris has a typical Western European oceanic climate which is affected by the North Atlantic Current. The overall climate throughout the year is mild and moderately wet.Summer days are usually warm and pleasant with average temperatures hovering between 15 and 25 °C (59 and 77 °F), and a fair amount of sunshine. Each year, however, there are a few days where the temperature rises above 32 °C (90 °F). Some years have even witnessed long periods of harsh summer weather, such as the heat wave of 2003 when temperatures exceeded 30 °C (86 °F) for weeks, surged up to 40 °C (104 °F) on some days and seldom cooled down at night.[84] More recently, the average temperature for July 2011 was 17.6 °C (63.7 °F), with an average minimum temperature of 12.9 °C (55.2 °F) and an average maximum temperature of 23.7 °C (74.7 °F).

Getting Around

Walking in Paris is one of the great pleasures of visiting the City of Light. It is possible to cross the entire city in only a few hours, but only if you can somehow keep yourself from stopping at numerous cafés and shops. In fact within a few years walking combined with biking and the Metro may be the only way to get around the very centre of Paris as plans develop to reduce access to cars in the city centre

For more information: Metro, RER (Suburban express railway), Bus, Passes and reductions

Kids Attractions

Some of the best things to do with kids in Paris to find child-friendly restaurants, weird and wonderful museums, safe and fun places to play outside and all sorts of activities whatever the weather.

For more information: Disneyland, Parc de la Villette, Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature Aquarium de Paris

Night Life

Paris is called the City of Light. It’s a city you’ll find lit up every hour of the night. As soon as the sun sets, even the Eiffel Tower starts twinkling, with its sparkling LED lights, at the top of each hour.

Moulin Rouge

Local Cuisine

Paris is in central region where almost anything from the country is available, as all train lines meet in the city. Over 9, 000 restaurants exist in Paris and almost any cuisine can be obtained here. High-quality restaurants proliferate here.

Game and ham are popular in Champagne, as well as the special sparkling wine simply known as Champagne. Fine fruit preserves are known from Lorraine as well as the quiche Lorraine. Alsace is influenced by the Alemannic food culture; as such, beers made in the area are similar to the style of bordering Germany. Dishes like choucroute (the French word for sauerkraut) are also popular
